Chelmsford & District Trades Union Council was established in 1899. It is affiliated to the Trades Union Congress (TUC) and the Essex County Association of Trades Councils.

Its membership is composed of delegates from mainly locally- based trade union branches that are affiliated to the TUC. Its aim is to promote the objectives of the TUC and to defend the interests of trade unionists and their families within Chelmsford.

The Council meets on the first Wednesday of each month (except May and August) at Transport House, 84 Springfield Road, Chelmsford CM2 6JY. Guest speakers are frequently invited to address meetings, and observers are always welcome. The rate of affiliation is 10p per branch member with a minimum of £35. We are willing to send a speaker to trade union branches, or indeed other local organisations, to tell you about our current activities.
